2025-10-03

VIENNA — As part of the continuous efforts of the Palestinian Community in Austria to raise awareness within public opinion and civil society regarding current developments in Palestine, and by joint invitation and organization of the Palestinian Community in Austria and the Palestinian Doctors and Pharmacists Association in Austria (PAAV), in cooperation with the Austrian branch of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, the Palestinian Community in Austria hosted an extensive political and legal panel. The discussion focused on the developments in Gaza, their international repercussions, and the European stance, with a notable presence from both the Arab and Austrian communities.
Panel Program and Participants:
The panel was opened by our colleague, Dr. Shadi Abu Taher, President of the Palestinian Doctors and Pharmacists Association in Austria, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of collective action to strengthen the Palestinian narrative within the European arena. The event featured a high-level participation from the delegation of the parent organization, with keynote addresses delivered by:
Mr. Alaa Shalaby (President of the Arab Organization for Human Rights – Parent Organization).
Mr. Issam Younis (Vice President of the Organization and Director of Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights in Palestine).
Mr. Dhia Al-Shammari (President of the Austrian branch of the Arab Organization for Human Rights).
Discussion Topics and Activity Objectives:
During this seminar, we focused on shedding light on the continuous Israeli atrocities and violations in the occupied Palestinian territories in general, and the besieged Gaza Strip in particular. The speakers reviewed the ongoing legal and human rights movements on the international stage and provided a comprehensive assessment of current political dynamics, highlighting the erosion of the international system and the double standards embedded in official European positions toward the Palestinian cause.
This activity serves as an additional step within our joint educational and legal framework to activate the role of the community and its partner associations in shaping a public opinion that supports the just rights of our people.
